2007 Mountaingoat Relay for Horses in the Hood - Saturday, April 28

A new event this year! The First Santa Monica Mountaingoat Relay to benefit Horses in the Hood.

This is a great non-profit benefit organization spearheaded by our own Kathy Kusner, that conducts five-day 'horse camps' for youths of the low-income, largely African-American and Latino communities of Watts and South Central Los Angeles. They learn not just to ride, but to care for, clean, maintain and generally be chummy with horses, obviously quite outside their normal range of experience! This is good stuff.

The event:

• A competition with four or five person teams, drawn by lot from the participants
• Not a boring relay, but a clever team event designed by Keith and Beverli
• Will happen on a regular Mountaingoating Saturday, April 28, at 7:30
• A special secret handicapping system will level the field!
• Prizes will include certificates, bragging rights, and extra Goat 'points'

Bring a check for $25 payable to 'Horses in the Hood'. It's tax-deductible, natch.

The race should last a few hours (about like a regular Goat run).

This is for Goats and isn't intended to be an open event, but if you have a running friend or two with an extra 25 bucks they're certainly welcome to run on a team.
